SOME USEFUL ADVICE
When in Fermanagh, do have a look in the local papers to see
if there are any local history society meetings taking place.
There are about a dozen such societies in the county, the
meetings are very informal and they are a great place to meet
My favourite genealogical story is about a couple who arrived
in Fermanagh with an old photograph and got talking to Pat
Cassidy in Lisnaskea to whom they told all they knew.
He listened for a while and then brought them a few doors
down the street. He knocked on the door and when the householder
opened the door the American visitors saw another copy of the
same photograph on the wall.
There is a huge amount of local information out there in the
folk memory that is not recorded in any book or archive.
