Fermanagh Gold Introduction
CASTLE IRVINE (Necarne Castle), Irvinestown

Associated Families: IRVINE

A 4-storey castle, probably C17, with round turrets and later battlements, to the front of which a 2 storey Tudor-Gothic range by John B. Keane, rather similar to Camlin, co. Donegal, was added 1831; so that the old castle rises above the centre of the newer facade.

The Tudor-Gothic building has a Classical interior; there are Corinthina columns of scagliola in the hall, which opens to form one long room with the rooms on either side.
