Fermanagh Gold Introduction

SOMERVILLE

Diane from NSW, Australia, has submitted a considerable amount of information she has collected on the Somerville family (including variations) in Fermanagh.  Some of the information appears below but all the births, baptisms, marriages, monumental inscriptions and census details have been included in the Fermanagh Gold database.

from "The Fermanagh Story" by Peadar Livingstone, 1969
This family took its name from a place called Graveron-Semerville (in Normandy, France).

Robert SOMERVILLE was a tenant on the Balfour Estate in 1619.

James SOMERVILLE was a tenant on the Derrygonnelly estate. His son, James, married Anna Catharina (widow of Lewis HAMILTON)

Their home was at Tullykelter on the HAMILTON estate and their son (Thomas) later became Lord Mayor of Dublin.
